Description

FetAp 611 out of the orginal German Federal Post Office inventory.

The telephone desk set 61 replaced the desk telephone W48 in 1963. It was a completely new design - more compact, easier to handle and lighter than the W 48 made of Bakelite. None of the components were from earlier sets, but the transmitting and receiving capsule, number switch and rubber feet were interchangeable with those of the predecessor models. Its shape was reminiscent of the “Assistent” model designed by SEL at the end of the 1950s.

All housing parts and the handset are made of highly impact-resistant, thermoplastic ABS plastic - no longer of hard but brittle and break-sensitive Bakelite like its predecessor. The finger hole disk is made of transparent plastic.

Lovingly restored original devices!

Initially, the FeTAp 61 was only produced in “pebble gray”, hence the nickname “gray mouse”. In 1970, Deutsche Bundespost launched a survey on colored telephones. Four colors were selected from 13 different colors and shades. In 1972, the colors ochre yellow, salmon red, light red-orange and fern green were introduced in addition to the pebble grey version. However, the salmon red color was soon removed from the range due to low demand. The connecting cables on these colored models were black - mainly for economic reasons - and only the pebble grey model retained its grey cables.
